The Quiet Ceiling and DMF Light Fixtures
Upgrades Effortlessly Achieved with DMF’s Modular Design
The latest lighting design is a far cry from its predecessor. Today, lights mimic the color of the sun, change in intensity and hues to match your moods, and transform throughout your home with one touch of a button. It’s a remarkable world, with technology changing it almost daily.
One of the essential features of this transformation is tunable LED technology and the light fixtures that support it. One of our favorite brands in this field is DMF, a leading lighting designer and manufacturer that stays ahead of the curve, continually integrating the latest cutting-edge technology.
Here, we’ll explore the DMF X Series and what it offers homes in Greenwich, CT.

Why DMF
DMF specializes in recessed lights, also known as can lights. Their unique attributes include a modular approach for ultimate flexibility. The cans are consistently the same, no matter what light is used, including fixed, adjustable, and wall-wash lights. This means you can swap out lights without requiring rewiring, allowing you to upgrade with little effort.
What changes are the trims. With over 50 to choose from, the ideal trim to align with a home’s aesthetics is guaranteed. DMF is also well-known for its warm dimming, a technology that brings bright, cool lighting to your morning endeavors, and a warm, amber-golden glow to your evenings.
The X Series
As lighting design shifts toward the “quiet ceiling,” small aperture LED downlights have become central to a home’s illumination. Their minimal presence recedes into the ceiling, illuminating a space with beautiful light while minimizing the light source.
DMF’s X Series includes 2-inch downlights and 3-inch cylinders. While creating a small footprint, this modular system brightens a home with lighting comparable to 3 and 4-inch downlights. These lights come in fixed versions or an adjustable model that rotates 360 degrees with a 35-degree tilt.
This flexibility enables these recessed lights to be used for task, ambient, or accent lighting. They also come equipped with DMF’s warm dim and tunable white light technology, creating the ideal lighting. With a 93+ color rendering index, you’re ensured the highest quality of light, accurately reproducing the colors of the items it illuminates.
In April 2024, DMF expanded the X Series collection, incorporating Cross Beam Total Internal Reflection (TIR) Optics. This technology provides maximum light output while minimizing glare. They also added pinhole and hyperbolic trims to their existing line.
Because drivers are integrated into the light engine modules instead of the housing, retrofits are easily accomplished for those who want to take advantage of this technology. Changeable trims, modules, and optics can all be accomplished below the ceiling, making for exceptional versatility.
Unique Conversion Retrofit Kits
Always on the forefront of change, DMF recently released its downlighting conversion retrofit kits. Using the company's precision-lock collar, these convert current 6-inch round and square housings to 4-inch aperture downlights. As smaller aperture downlights become the ongoing trend, this capability enables a quick fix for those seeking an upgrade.
